CHARLOTTE, NC —Β There’s now extra security outsideΒ NorthΒ Carolina’s military centers.
We spotted armed guards at an Army recruiting station in Monroe Monday. Β The changes were ordered by Governor Pat McCrory Sunday after four Marines and a Sailor were killed last week in Chattanooga.
“We’re out here because the federal government is keeping the military in uniform from carrying weapons to defend themselves on base and at recruiting stations like this one,” said Kevin Collins of Veterans Defending American Soldiers.
One of the Marines killed last week was from our area. Β Staff Sergeant David Wyatt was born in Burke County.
