CHARLOTTE, NC —Β JonathanΒ Ferrell’s family is inΒ Charlotte forΒ OfficerΒ Kerrick’sΒ trial. Β Ferrell’s motherΒ Georgia says her son was an all-American kid who was taken too soon.

“I’m here to be a voice for Jonathan from beyond the grave,” said Georgia Ferrell. Β “Jonathan cannot speak for himself, but I can speak for him.”

Β

“As officer Kerrick sat in a courtroom about a minute’s walk away, Jonathan Ferrell’s mother stood at the government center in front of a throng of microphones. Β She was still visibly a woman grieving, nearly two years after son’s death. Β Yet, she mustered up the courage to forgive, saying if Officer Kerrick were in front of her…

“First I would give him a hug, and I would let him know he was wrong,” she said.Β  “And I would ask him, ‘Why would you take an innocent man’s life? Β Why would you do that? Β He caused you no threat.'”

This mother and her family are putting what happens next to a higher power.

“No matter what a court says, no matter what a man says, God was there that night, God know what’s right and God know what’s wrong,” said Willie Ferrell, Jonathan Ferrell’s brother.

And soon Lady Justice will have her say.
