CHARLOTTE, NC — Jonathan Ferrell’s family is in Charlotte for Officer Kerrick’s trial.  Ferrell’s mother Georgia says her son was an all-American kid who was taken too soon.

“I’m here to be a voice for Jonathan from beyond the grave,” said Georgia Ferrell.  “Jonathan cannot speak for himself, but I can speak for him.”

“As officer Kerrick sat in a courtroom about a minute’s walk away, Jonathan Ferrell’s mother stood at the government center in front of a throng of microphones.  She was still visibly a woman grieving, nearly two years after son’s death.  Yet, she mustered up the courage to forgive, saying if Officer Kerrick were in front of her…

“First I would give him a hug, and I would let him know he was wrong,” she said.  “And I would ask him, ‘Why would you take an innocent man’s life?  Why would you do that?  He caused you no threat.'”

This mother and her family are putting what happens next to a higher power.

“No matter what a court says, no matter what a man says, God was there that night, God know what’s right and God know what’s wrong,” said Willie Ferrell, Jonathan Ferrell’s brother.

And soon Lady Justice will have her say.
