CHESTER, SC — A dispute between the police department and sheriff’s office in one local town has officers moving. After the Chester Police Chief resigned two weeks ago, the sheriff’s office changed the locks to the police department’s door.
That left some employees without a place to work. The police department packed up Thursday and moved to City Hall.
“The issue needs to be resolved,” says MaKeesharia Tobias, Chester Police Public Relations. “All of managerial services from the county, the city, all that can sit down and get a meeting of the minds together to figure this out. It is in the best interest of the citizens of Chester, not just the police departments.”
County officials say they did not force the police department to move, but would not speak to us on camera.
