Ron Rivera Mourns The Loss Of His Brother

CHARLOTTE, NC — The start of camp this year has been a challenge for Panthers Head Coach Ron Rivera.

His 56-year-old brother Mickey Rivera passed away on Tuesday, after a two-year fight with pancreatic cancer.  For the Rivera family this week has been emotional.

“He’s in a better place now, and, you know, it’s one of those things that, in Mickey’s mind, he didn’t want to be a distraction, but the timing was not good,” said Rivera.

Rivera says he will miss practice on Saturday and Sunday to attend his brother’s funeral services.
