CHARLOTTE, NC– An elderly couple died in a early morning house fire Saturday in East Charlotte. Β
Firefighters responded to the house fire on Tom Hunter Road around 1:30 a.m. Saturday. Β They found Nellie Davis, 74, and Lonnie Davis Jr, 73, unresponsive inside the house and they were pronounced dead on the scene. Β
The Charlotte Fire Investigation Task Force says an electrical malfunction caused the house fire. Β Β
It took 27 firefighters 27 minutes to control the fire. Β The fire caused approximately $25,000 in damages.
