CHARLOTTE, NC — A small group of Jonathan Ferrell supporters rallied in Marshall Park Monday morning, then marched to the courthouse. John Barnett says he’s organizing a court watch. He thinks rallies will stay peaceful and expects more people to show up when there’s a verdict.
“Dr. King had a famous quote,” said Barnett. “He said those who feel as if they don’t have a stake in the community, they’re gonna constantly try to destroy it. And Charlotte is in that position right now. So we pray that we get justice, so it won’t result to that.”
Some in the group were turned away from court Monday. So many people were inside the courtroom that more than a dozen people were forced to wait outside, hoping that someone would leave so they could go in and take that seat.
The anticipation in all of this builds towards more testimony and to see exactly what’s going to happen on that video. That’s what a lot of people are waiting to see, the video of the night that Jonathan Ferrell was shot by Wes Kerrick.
You can count on the WCCB Charlotte Trial Team for continuing coverage of the Kerrick trial. Look for updates throughout the day on air and online.
