CHARLOTTE, NC — Demolition is underway at an east Charlotte church intentionally set on fire in June.
Volunteers from local churches are teaming up with Samaritan’s Purse to help members of Briar Creek Baptist. They’re gutting the inside of the burned building so it can be renovated.
“This church did not have any insurance, and so they really had nowhere to turn financially for assistance. So they were in need, and we’re glad we were able to respond with our time and the talents and the resources that we’ve been blessed to have,” says Wayne Shoemaker of Samaritan’s Purse.
There’s a $3,500 reward for information that leads to an arrest and conviction of the arsonist. Investigators do not consider it a hate crime.
