A conservation group has announced it wants to erect a life-sized bronze statue of Cecil the Lion at a Zimbabwe national park. Β American dentist Walter Palmer used a bow and arrow, and then a gun to hunt and kill Cecil last month. Β He thought the hunt was legal, but two Zimbabwean men were later arrested in the lion’s death. Β Zimbabwe is also seeking Palmer’s extradition so he can face charges.
The killing has sparked outrage across the United States. Β Three U.S. airlines have now announced they will no longer allow hunters to bring their big-game trophies on flights.
Walter Palmer continues to face the wrath of the public for the kill. Β His vacation home in Florida was vandalized Tuesday. Β Someone threw pig’s feet and animal crackers in his driveway. Β They then spray-painted “lion killer” on the garage door.
So what do you think? Β Has outrage over Cecil the Lion’s death been taken too far?
