The university said yesterday that the Razorbacks will pla6y Akron on Nov. 18 and Charleston Southern on Nov. 20 before going to Brooklyn, New York, for the semi-finals of the tournament.
COLUMBIA, S.C. (AP) — South Carolina’s two-time Southeastern Conference player of the year Tiffany Mitchell had foot surgery last week. The school says in a statement yesterday that the surgery to her left foot shouldn’t keep Mitchell out of the lineup when the Gamecocks open the season in November.
CORNING, N.Y. (AP) — Richard Petty, the winningest driver in NASCAR history, was honored last night with the Cameron R. Argetsinger Award for outstanding contributions to motorsports. The award, given by the International Motor Racing Research Center, was presented by NASCAR, International Speedway Corp. and Watkins Glen International during a ceremony at Corning Museum of Glass.
GREENVILLE, N.C. (AP) — East Carolina has added former Minnesota quarterback Philip Nelson as a walk-on. Coach Ruffin McNeill announced the addition of four walk-ons, including Nelson, after the Pirates held their first preseason practice last night.
