The Edgitators: Has Cecil the Lion Outrage Gone Too Far?

A conservation group has announced it wants to erect a life-sized bronze statue of Cecil the Lion at a Zimbabwe national park. American dentist Walter Palmer used a bow and arrow, and then a gun to hunt and kill Cecil last month. He thought the hunt was legal, but two Zimbabwean men were later arrested in the lion’s death. Zimbabwe is also seeking Palmer’s extradition so he can face charges.
The killing has sparked outrage across the United States. Three U.S. airlines have now announced they will no longer allow hunters to bring their big-game trophies on flights.
Walter Palmer continues to face the wrath of the public for the kill. His vacation home in Florida was vandalized Tuesday. Someone threw pig’s feet and animal crackers in his driveway. They then spray-painted “lion killer” on the garage door.
