CHARLOTTE, N.C.– A man is dead after being hit by a vehicle early Saturday morning. Β
Officials with the Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police Department said Thomas Kirk Nelson, 64, was hit around 2:10 a.m. Saturday while trying to cross Park Road at the intersection of Hamlin Park Drive. Β
Nelson was transported to Carolinas Medical Center and died at 6:38 a.m. Saturday. Β
Police say the driver, Sergio Yobany Borrayo, 39, has been charged with driving while impaired and involuntary manslaughter. Β
Police say speed does not appear to be a factor in the crash.
