CHARLOTTE, NC — A plan that would affect how sales tax is distributed between North Carolina counties has moved one step forward this week.  The Senate approved it Monday night.

Half of the tax money would stay in the county where the sale took place.  The other half would be distributed based on county population.

The bill would mean less tax revenue for Mecklenburg County.
