Day fired a 6-under 66 that included four birdies and an eagle in a six-hole stretch, beginning with the par-3 ninth hole. Spieth birdied six of his final eight holes for a 7-under 65 and a 13-under total.

The Pirates blew a 3-0 lead in the seventh before pinch-hitter Chris Stewart and Sean Rodriguez hit RBI singles in the 14th inning to lift the Bucs past the Mets 5-3. Mark Reynolds blasted a two-run homer and rookie Randal Grichuk (GRIH’-chuk) added a solo blast as the Redbirds dumped Miami 6-2.

TORONTO (AP) — Masahiro Tanaka (mah-sah-HEE’-roh tah-NAH’-kah) tossed a five-hitter and Mark Teixeira had a couple of big hits as the New York Yankees beat Toronto 4-1 to stay atop the AL East. Teixeira snapped a 1-1 tie with a solo homer and added an RBI single to back Tanaka’s first complete game in more than a year. Carlos Beltran also homered for the Yankees, who top their division by 1 ½ games over the Blue Jays.

Detroit blew a 1-0 lead in the ninth before Victor Martinez hit a tiebreaking, RBI double in a three-run 11th that pushed the Tigers past Houston 4-2.
