CHARLOTTE, N.C. — CMPD Animal Care & Control’s largest annual fundraiser returns Sunday, August 23, 2015.
All of the proceeds from Animal Kneads day benefit the Animal Care & Control Community Spay/Neuter Assistance Program. This program is funded solely through “‹donations and grants, which makes Animal Kneads Day the most important annual fundraiser. “‹
On the day of the event, the owners and staff donate their time and the ingredients to make over 1,000 loaves of bread. Volunteers from the Animal Care & Control (AC&C) offer the bread to customers for a donation of $10 a loaf.
The funding from this event is able to cover approximately eight clinics a year which results in approximately over 500 animal sterilization surgeries. In 2014, Animal Kneads Day raised $16,400.
There are an estimated 400,000 cats and dogs living in the metro area, and many of these animals are stray. As a municipal shelter, Animal Care & Control cannot turn away any animal, regardless of the shelter’s capacity. Last year alone, due to pet overpopulation in the community, 13,157 dogs and cats entered the AC&C Shelter.
The event will take place on August 23, 2015 at Great Harvest Bread Company, 6420 Rea Road Charlotte, NC 28277 from 10a-5p.
