BROOKLYN, Mich. (AP) β Matt Kenseth raced to his third NASCAR Sprint Cup victory of the season, winning in convincing fashion yesterday at Michigan International Speedway. Kenseth, the pole winner, won for the 34th time in his career, leading 146 of 200 laps in the 400-mile race. Joe Gibbs Racing has won five of the last six Cup races.
ATLANTA (AP) β Shelby Miller took a no-hit bid into the eighth inning, and the Atlanta Braves went on to beat the Arizona Diamondbacks 2-1 yesterday on Cameron Maybin’s homer in the 10th. Miller, an NL All-Star last month and among the league leaders in ERA, wound up with his 16th straight winless start.
ATLANTA (AP) β Angel McCoughtry and Reshanda Gray each scored 18 points and the Atlanta Dream beat the Connecticut Sun 90-77 yesterday. Shoni Schimmel added 15 points to help the Dream beat the Sun for the first time in three games this season. The two teams will meet again in two of their next three games.
FLOWERY BRANCH, Ga. (AP) β The Atlanta Falcons have released offensive tackle DeMarcus Love and signed three players, including running back Evan Royster. Royster, a sixth-round draft pick by the Redskins in 2011, adds depth to a position depleted by injuries.
