IKEA Recalls Children’s Nightlight Due To Electrical Shock Hazard

CHARLOTTE, N.C. — IKEA recalls a popular children’s nightlight due to an electrical shock hazard.

Officials say the nightlight’s plastic covering can detach and expose electrical components.  The full name of the product is PATRULL Nightlight.

IKEA is offering a full refund and asking consumers to immediately stop using and unplug the recalled product.

Customers can call IKEA directly about the refund at 1-888-966-4532 or online at www.ikea-usa.com.

Approximately 359,000 units are being recalled in the U.S.

DESCRIPTION OF THE PRODUCT: This recall affects all PATRULL Nightlights. Nightlights come in white, orange and pink. The nightlights automatically turn on in the dark and off in the light. Each PATRULL Nightlight has an IKEA logo on the back top near the sensor. The light has a dome-shaped plastic cover that gives the light its color and is attached to a white rectangular plastic base. The nightlight is 2 ¾ inches round and 3 ½ inches deep.

Only one report of injury has been received and it happened to a young child in Austria.  The child received minor wounds on the hand.
