NEW YORK (AP) β€” The media frenzy that is “Deflategate” continues today with a scheduled court hearing in federal court to determine whether New England quarterback Tom Brady’s four-game suspension will be upheld. The QB and NFL Commissioner Roger Goodell (guh-DEHL’) met privately yesterday but the legal case remains unresolved.

NEW YORK (AP) β€” Alex Rodriguez hit his 25th career grand slam in the seventh inning, and the New York Yankees rallied from a three-run deficit to beat the Minnesota Twins 8-4. The Yanks maintained their one-game lead in the AL East over Toronto, which beat Philadelphia 8-5 for the Blue Jays’ 13th win in 15 games.

BOSTON (AP) β€” The last-place Boston Red Sox shook up their front office last night, hiring Dave Dombrowski as the new president of baseball operations and saying goodbye to general manager Ben Cherington. Dombrowski joins the Red Sox β€” his fifth major league club β€” immediately.

ARLINGTON, Texas (AP) β€” The Texas Rangers have acquired outfielder Will Venable from the San Diego Padres for minor league catcher-outfielder Marcus Greene and a player to be named. The 32-year-old Venable, who is hitting .258 with six home runs and 30 RBIs, is expected to join the Rangers on Thursday when they open a four-game series in Detroit.

PHILADELPHIA (AP) β€” Philadelphia 76ers center Joel Embiid, underwent surgery for the second time on his right foot on Tuesday, this time a bone graft procedure. The third overall pick in the 2014 draft who missed his entire rookie season because of a stress fracture, Embiid had two existing screws replaced and a bone graft of the site was done using bone from his hip.
