Ron Rivera Encouraged By Funchess Performance

CHARLOTTE, NC — Kelvin Benjamin, the Panthers’ first-round pick in last year’s draft, led the team in both touchdowns and receiving yards.  Left to fill some of the void, this year’s rookie receiver.

But a little cause for concern Wednesday when Devin Funchess left practice early with a tight hamstring.  He’ll likely miss a few days, but Ron Rivera is encouraged by what he’s seen from Funchess so far in camp.

“He’s done a nice job, he really has,” said Rivera.  “You know, he and Kelvin are different type players.  Kelvin’s a big, stout, physical guy, where Funchess is size, and he uses his size to position himself.  So, you know, he’ll have to step it up and learn that style and technique of play.”
