Ron Rivera Encouraged By Funchess Performance
CHARLOTTE, NC — KelvinΒ Benjamin,Β the Panthers’ first-round pick in last year’s draft, led the team in both touchdowns and receiving yards. Β Left to fillΒ some ofΒ the void, this year’sΒ rookie receiver.
But a little cause for concern Wednesday when Devin Funchess left practice early with a tight hamstring. Β He’ll likely miss a few days, but Ron Rivera is encouraged by what he’s seen from Funchess so far in camp.
“He’s done a nice job, he really has,” said Rivera. Β “You know, he and Kelvin are different type players. Β Kelvin’s a big, stout, physical guy, where Funchess is size, and he uses his size to position himself. Β So, you know, he’ll have to step it up and learn that style and technique of play.”
