GREENSBORO, N.C. (AP) β Tiger Woods shot a 6-under 64 in the opening round of the Wyndham Championship in a last-ditch bid to make it into the FedEx Cup playoffs that start next weekend. Woods needs to win or possibly finish second in order to make it into next week’s The Barclays.
EDEN PRAIRIE, Minn. (AP) β Minnesota backup tackle Carter Bykowski has been sidelined with a torn pectoral muscle. Coach Mike Zimmer says he may not be able to play again this season. Bykowski’s injury depletes a position that was already thin when starting right tackle Phil Loadholt was lost for the season with a torn left Achilles.
BALTIMORE (AP) β A Baltimore jury has found the director of security for the Baltimore Ravens not guilty of charges that he groped a stadium worker after a game. Darren Sanders was acquitted of second-degree assault and a fourth-degree sex offense stemming from accusations that he inappropriately touched a woman who works for a cleaning crew after a game in December.
MINNEAPOLIS (AP) β The Minnesota Timberwolves have signed veteran forward Tayshaun Prince, who agreed last week to a one-year deal for the veteran minimum. Prince averaged 7.5 points in 58 games last year for Memphis, Detroit and Boston. He spent three years playing for Wolves coach Flip Saunders when the two were together in Detroit.
SOUTH WILLIAMSPORT, Pa. (AP) β All four games at the Little League World Series have been washed out after storms hit that are expected to drop up to an inch of rain. Eight games are now set for tomorrow. Little League officials believe that is the most played in one day at the World Series.
