GREENSBORO, N.C. (AP) β Tiger Woods lost his share of the lead at the Wyndham Championship in Greensboro, but he’s just two strokes back as he tries to qualify for the season-ending FedEx playoffs. Woods shot a 2-under 68 in the third round on Saturday for a 13-under total. He birdied 16 to get to within one shot of leader Jason Gore, but he bogeyed the final hole to fall two back.
COQUITLAM, British Columbia (AP) β Candie Kung and two-time champion Lydia Ko share the lead through three rounds of the Canadian Pacific Women’s Open. Ko bogeyed the final hole for a 3-under 69 to fall into a tie with Kung at 12-under. Kung shot a 71 after tying the Vancouver Golf Club record with a 64 in the second round.
BRISTOL, Tenn. (AP) β Joey Logano has won the Bristol night race for the second straight year, giving him two victories this month as he prepares for the Chase for the Sprint Cup championship. Logano grabbed the lead on the final restart, zipping past Penske teammate Brad Keselowski before holding off Kevin Harvick, who finished second for the 10th time this season. Logano led 176 laps in his third win of the season.
LONG POND, Pa. (AP) β IndyCar points leader Juan Pablo Montoya will start 19th for Sunday’s race at Pocono Raceway. Graham Rahal qualified fifth as he tries to trim his nine-point deficit to Montoya, who won Pocono from the pole last season. Helio Castroneves (kas-troh-NEH’-vehs) won the pole at 220.530 mph. He is fourth in the driver standings, 58 points behind Montoya.
DENVER (AP) β The Mets have placed first baseman Lucas Duda (DOO’-duh) on the 15-day disabled list with a back injury and recalled left-handed pitcher Dario Alvarez from Triple-A Las Vegas to fill his roster spot. Duda was batting .247 with 21 home runs with 56 RBIs in 113 games this season. He has been bothered by back pain most of this month and had to be pulled from Friday’s game at Colorado
