Mayoral Candidates Hold Debate

CHARLOTTE, NC — Six of Charlotte’s eight Mayoral candidates participated in a debate Tuesday night at the Ballantyne Hotel & Lodge.
The first debate featured Republicans Scott Stone and Edwin Peacock. Democratic candidates Michael Barnes, Dan Clodfelter, David Howard and Jennifer Roberts took the stage next.
Voters say they were curious to hear what the candidates have to say on several issues.
“I kind of wanted to know more about how they planned to develop Charlotte more, particularly with the economy, how the transit system is going to change. Those were things I’m kind of interested in,” said Charlotte resident Joi Mayo.
Primaries for the Mayoral race are on September 15th. Early voting begins next Thursday.
