CHARLOTTE, N.C. — A police officer was involved in a crash in east Charlotte. Β Investigators say the two vehicle accident happened just before 1pm on Independence Boulevard at North Sharon Amity Road. Β
Police say the driver of a SUV attempted to make an illegal U-turn onto North Sharon Amity Road and was t-boned by the officer’s vehicle. Β The officer was not injured. Β
The driver of the SUV and three passengers were pinned in the vehicle and had to be rescued by emergency crews. Β
Police say the driver of the SUV was issued a citation for making an illegal left turn. Β Two of the occupants in the SUV were also issued citations, one for possession of drug paraphernalia and one for open container.Β
