Groundbreaking Held At LRU For New Science Hall

HICKORY, N.C. — A ceremonial groundbreaking was held at Lenoir-Rhyne University to kick off the construction of the University’s Minges Science Building.

Over 200 people came to witness the event. “We believe science education is fundamental to our future growth as a nation in this highly competitive world,” University President Dr. Wayne Powell said. “Lenoir-Rhyne is proud to continue its traditions of leading the South in preparing future scientists and health care providers.”

The $17.5 million dollar project is partially funded through the school’s University Rising Campaign, which raised an astounding $65 million.

Construction of the project will begin in November and is expected to take about 18 months to complete.
