Hundreds Attend Candlelight Vigil at WDBJ Studios

ROANOKE, VA —Β Hundreds of people attended a candlelight vigil Thursday night to remember the two journalists killed on live television in Virginia. Β The vigil outside the WDBJ studios also served as a call to action, with lawmakers addressing gun violence.

We’re learning more about the gunman, who later took his own life. Β Police found a wig, sunglasses, a shawl, three license plates and six Glock magazines inside Vester Flanagan’s rental car Wednesday.

A search warrant reveals that the man described as a disgruntled former employee also had a to-do list and a book bag with a number of handwritten letters. Β He shot WDBJ cameraman Adam Ward and reporter Alison Parker at close range, then posted the video on social media.

Parker’s father is calling for stricter gun laws.

“Smarter people than I am can figure out a way to do background checks and prevent mentally unstable, crazy people from getting guns,” said Andy Parker.

WDBJ hired Flanagan in 2012. Β He reported under the name Bryce Williams before being fired in 2013. Β The station manager says Flanagan was asked to seek mental health assistance, and he complied.
