CMPD Reviewing if Officer Kerrick Followed Department Policies

CHARLOTTE, NC — The charge against Officer Wes Kerrick will be dismissed.  Kerrick’s attorneys say it’s not clear if he will stay with CMPD.

CMPD says it is not commenting on his employment status.  Some are suggesting that Kerrick could file a lawsuit against the City of Charlotte, which has already paid out more than $2 million to Jonathan Ferrell’s family.

“Officer Kerrick has potential civil rights claims,” says WCCB Charlotte legal contributor John Snyder.  “He has a lawsuit against the city for being treated like no other city employee has: by being put on unpaid suspension and having his insurance cut.”

Snyder says he feels Kerrick could win any potential suit he files against the City of Charlotte.
