NEW YORK (AP) β€” Bill de Blasio went to a baseball game over the weekend.

Actually, he went to all three played in Queens between his beloved Boston Red Sox and the New York Mets.

He sat in the upper deck, basically unrecognized amid a sea of happy baseball fans. He had a Nathan’s hot dog and cheered a David Ortiz home run.

De Blasio told The Associated Press on Sunday that baseball is “a current that runs through my life.”

His Red Sox allegiance stems from his childhood in Massachusetts but he is excited for the Mets’ October playoff prospects.

While he has to yet to attend a game at Yankee Stadium as mayor, he says he would honor the Bronx Bombers at City Hall if they win the World Series.
