CHARLOTTE, N.C. — Panthers safety Colin Jones injured his groin during the second to last day of training camp.
Head coach Ron Rivera said “Thatβs much more than a tweak. “Heβs going to see a doctor and weβll go from there.”
“We have a couple guys battling for that backup position, so weβll see,” Rivera said. “But itβs really going to be about whose role is going to improve on special teams. Colin was one of our aces. We need to find guys that can fill that role more than anything else.”
Jones played in 16 games for the Panthers last season. Posted a career-high 20 tackles, one sack, and one forced fumble.
