CHESTERFIELD COUNTY, S.C. — Police say a child was fatally hit by an oncoming vehicle in Chesterfield County.
According to reports, the victim’s family was enrolling their children at Pageland Elementary School when the incident occurred. The child was sent back to the car to retrieve additional documents for enrollment, when they were struck by the vehicle.
The child was pronounced dead at CMS Union Hospital. Officials say the accident will be investigated by the South Carolina Highway Patrol, and more information will be released upon notification of the family.
