CHARLOTTE, N.C. — A Cornelius business owner has proposed a “scofflaw” effort to fight I-77 toll lanes.
Joel Pfyffer, owner of Prosciuttos Pizzeria & Pub, posted to his Facebook page in an effort to get others to join him in his fight against tolls on I-77.
His Facebook post reads:
“I have kept my distance from the subject for a while and I apologize for that. I (as a small business owner Prosciuttos Pizzeria & Pub)) I know and get far more now. I can’t understand how we are being forced into this project. 95% of the citizens are against this and the state government (including the current Gov who I voted for) are ignoring this populace. I have decided to volunteer my efforts in all ways possible to stop this ill-planned project. I would like to propose a “scofflaw” effort to (if legal efforts fail) to physically stop this effort. I will park my car in front of construction vehicles and I will lead this effort if anyone will follow me. This country was founded on Democracy not forced dictation (Federal?) and I am ready to fight back.”
According to the NC DOT, construction on I-77 will last about 3 years and reach completion in 2018.
