INDIAN TRAIL, N.C. — Carolina Waterfowl Rescue is fighting to save a turkey that was found hanging from an apartment balcony this weekend.
The apartment property manager spotted the turkey, now named Rocky, and notified the police. CMPD Animal Care & Control officers arrived at the scene where Rocky was found hanging by his feet. Officers say he was suffering from a severe wing injury and an infection from the metal wire digging into his legs.
According to authorities, Rocky was surrendered to police by his owners, who claimed they were going to eat him. No charges have been filed, but an investigation is underway.
