Community Raises Funds for Child Struck, Killed by Car

PAGELAND, SC — The community is raising money to help with the funeral for an eight-year-old girl, struck and killed by a car in Chesterfield County.
The accident happened outside Pageland Elementary School Tuesday morning. Nelly Herrera’s parents were registering an older child.
They sent her to their car to get additional paperwork when another vehicle struck Herrera as she crossed the street.
“Make sure your kids know safety rules, when to cross, when not to cross,” says Pageland Police Chief Larry Brown. “Make sure to look out for vehicles, look both ways, look out for vehicles whenever you’re going before your cross. Always, always, stop look and listen.”
Donations to help the Hererra family can be dropped off at Baumgartner Funeral Home in Pageland.
