CHARLOTTE, N.C.– Β The Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police Department is investigating an early Sunday morning shooting that left a woman dead in Southwest Charlotte.Β
While police were investigating a shooting that left a 7-year-old boy dead in the 6800 block of Fieldvale Place they heard multiple shots fired near by in the 500 block of Echodale Drive at 12:13 a.m Sunday.
Police responded to the area and found a man and woman suffering from apparent gunshot wounds.Β
Both victims were transported to Carolinas Medical Center where the woman, 30-year-old Laquanta YoungΒ was pronounced dead.
The man sustained non-life threatening injuries. Β
Detectives are canvassing the area to determine if there were any additional witnesses to the shooting.Β
