MONROE, NC — Commuters will pay the price for some else’s bad driving. A bridge in Monroe is closed after a driver hit a girder.
The state DOT thinks heavy equipment hit the bridge on US-74 over Concord Avenue sometime Wednesday. The repair work is expected to keep the bridge closed through next Friday, and drivers are not happy!
“It will be interrupting a lot of people’s commute off of 74 up on Concord Avenue up here, and then we have a lot of people that go up Wilkes drive that exit down on 74, that will interrupt their commute,” said Monroe resident Dwayne Clark.
Drivers can take Concord Avenue to US-601 to Pedro Street and then back to Concord Avenue.
