Attempted Bank Robbery Prompts Extra Police Presence At Gaston County School

UPDATE: Suspect’s device was detonated by a robot. Police have now given the all-clear. 

DALLAS, N.C. — Police are investigating a suspected bank robbery that happened in Gaston County.  

Officials say the incident happened at the drive thru window at the BB&T on West Trade Street.  The bomb squad detonated a suspicious device on the scene.  Several roads in the area are closed as police continue to investigate.

Extra officers were dispatched to Carr Elementary School as a precaution shortly after the robbery.  The school dismissed students on time.  

No arrests have been made at this time.  This is a developing story.  Check back for updates.
