Woman Arrested For Shooting At Central Elementary School

UPDATE: Officials say the couple involved was married. The victim is the woman’s husband.

Police say the two came to Central Elementary to pick up their oldest child, who is new to the school. When the child got in car, that is when the shooting happened.
 
The mother and child reportedly ran back into the school for help. The mother was then taken to an office by the principal until law enforcement arrived.
 
After school programs were going on when the shooting occur ed, and about 75 students including faculty accounted for at the time. School officials say they took all students and faculty to the other side of the school and notified parents to pick up their children.
 
Tomorrow counselors will be at the school, according to reports. School will start at a normal time.

 

STATESVILLE, N.C. — Police say a man was shot on the property of Central Elementary, North of Statesville.

According to the Iredell County Sheriff’s Office, the shooting happened around 3 p.m. in what police call a domestic situation.

The man was reportedly transported to the hospital, His condition is not known at the time.

Officials say school has been dismissed for the day. After-school students and staff members have been safely evacuated and the school has been placed on lockdown. No students were injured. 

The suspect is believed to be a woman known to the victim.

Sheriff’s Deputies are investigating and remain on the scene at this hour. We will post additional information as soon as it is released.
