CHARLOTTE, N.C. — Police say they recently conducted a three-month operation that led to the arrest of twenty people.
The operation was reportedly prompted by a shooting investigation that occurred in 2014. Detectives identified two opposing groups of individuals as a result of the shooting.
According to officials, these groups began to commit violent acts against one another throughout 2014 and into 2015, endangering the lives of the public.
Police say that during the operation, 11 guns were seized and 20 defendants are now facing varying charges that range from murder to fraud.
Conducting the operation was no simple task. Anti-Crime Detectives received assistance throughout the operation from North and Westover Division Focus Mission Teams and Detectives, the ATF, Mecklenburg County District Attorney’s Office, U.S. Attorney’s Office, the CMPD’s Crime Analysis, Crime Lab, Real Time Crime Center, Electronic Monitoring, Homicide/ADW Unit and NC Probation and Parole. Detectives also collaborated with the Fort Bend County Texas District Attorney’s Office, according to reports.
