CHESTER, S.C. — Officials say one person is dead after a tractor-trailer truck collided with a pick-up truck on Interstate 77 in Chester.
Troopers say the driver of the tractor-trailer truck was headed southbound on I-77 when he crossed the median and crashed head-on into a pick-up. Β The driver of the Dodge Ram pick-up was killed.
The driver of the tractor-trailer truck was taken to a local hospital for treatment. Β Officials say he was a contractor for the postal service. Β
Employees with the postal service were able to transfer the mail inside the burnt truck to Charlotte for delivery. Β However, they did say some of the mail was damaged or destroyed.
The accident happened around 10am. Β Witnesses sent pictures to WCCB showing both the vehicles on fire after the collision. Β
