New VA Health Care Center to Open in April

CHARLOTTE, NC — Veterans in Charlotte won’t have to travel out of town for health care much longer.  The new VA health care center on West Tyvola Road is expected to open in April.

WCCB Charlotte got a tour of the 295,000 square foot facility Thursday.  The outpatient center will offer veterans most of their care in one place.

“When we’re fully up and online, we’ll be able to offer services we haven’t offered in Charlotte before, like physical therapy, dialysis, day surgery,” said Charlotte VA Health Center Director Kenneth Mortimer.

The center cost $104 million to build.  Right now, the closest VA hospital is in Salisbury.
