Rock Hill Family Marches for Justice After Losing Loved One

ROCK HILL, SC — A Rock Hill family will march for justice Saturday after losing a loved one. The family of Latoya Cureton is hoping a rally in her honor will bring justice.
“She’s known for her laugh,” said Latoya’s aunt Liz McKnight. “You could always hear her laughing.”
Latoya Cureton’s family says she was full of love, and is deeply missed. The 27-year-old was gunned down behind a vacant home on Greene Street on August 5th.
Now her family wants closure. So they will march in her honor, raising awareness and hoping to get justice for “Toya”
“It’s not just for our family, it’s for all the families that going through similar situation: loss of a child, unsolved crimes,” said McKnight.
Capt. Mark Bollinger says so far they have no solid leads or suspects in her murder.
“As far as we know, she was minding her own business and was senselessly murdered on the streets of Rock Hill,” said Capt. Bollinger.
Including Latoya, there are currently five cold case murders in Rock Hill. The Cureton family says they stand with all those families, and ask anyone with information to help.
“Last month it was us,” said McKnight. “Today could be you, or tomorrow someone else in your family. So speak up, talk, let the police know. If you know anything, tell them. That would bring us so much peace.”
The march begins at 11am Saturday morning at the corner of Marion and Saluda Streets in Rock Hill.
Anyone with information in these cold case murders can call York County Crime Stoppers at 877-409-4321.
