LINCOLN COUNTY, N.C.– A single vehicle crash backed up Highway 321 in Lincoln County Saturday.
Troopers say the crash happened at 2:22 p.m. Saturday near mile marker 30 on Highway 321 northbound.
A witness told troopers the driver was driving all over the road before running off the road and into the median. The vehicle went off of a drop off and nosedived about 70 feet and rolled into Clark Creek.
Emergency crews used a ladder truck to pull the driver out of the creek. They say the driver was alert and conscious and that they had fallen asleep at the wheel before the crash.
The driver sustained non-life threatening injuries.
Troopers say speed and weather do not appear to be factors in the crash.
