CHARLOTTE, NC – Soaking, wet conditions Saturday left some neighborhoods with downed trees that blocked roads and led to power outages.
Crews worked to remove a huge tree which closed all lanes on Queens Road near Providence. Some people lost power, while police directed traffic at a nearby intersection.
There was another fallen tree Saturday afternoon along IBM Drive in the University area. Crews worked quickly to get it out of the roadway.
In Myers Park, residents say while they love the trees that line the streets, they know there’s always a risk one might fall during nasty weather.
“I felt bad because there’s so many wonderful trees around here. They just seem to be coming down because of either disease, they’re old, you know, so I hope they plant new ones,” says Myers Park resident Sandy Pearce.
