INDIANAPOLIS (AP) β The Indiana Pacers believe a new look may be their quickest route to an NBA title.
During the team’s annual media day Monday, coach Frank Vogel and three players β including two-time All-Star Paul George β acknowledged going small and playing fast could be their best move.
The switch means George also will change positions, going from small forward to more of a stretch power forward. Coming off a major knee injury, George has expressed resistance to the move and he explained Monday his biggest concern is how well his body will hold up against bigger opponents.
Vogel said the Pacers will adapt if needed. But he expects George to like the results and thinks the offseason overhaul gives Indiana its best shot at being a title contender.
