
KANNAPOLIS, N.C. — Two suspects involved in a deadly shooting in Kannapolis are behind bars according to police. Chay Johnson, 25, and Oscar Jarmon, 20, both of Kannapolis, are charged in the shooting death of 24-year-old Solomon Gebrezgi.
Detectives say on Monday, they got a call around 6:10 p.m. at the Cabarrus Arms Apartments off of Richard Avenue. When they arrived, they were told that Gebrezgi was transported from the scene in a private vehicle. That vehicle was located a short time later on South Main Street near Briarcliff Drive. Police say they found Gebrezgi suffering from a gunshot wound inside the vehicle. He was transported to Carolinas Medical Center Northeast where he later died.
Chay Johnson was taken into custody early Tuesday afternoon. Police say they are still searching for Jarmon. Both suspects are charged with 1st Degree Murder, Attempted Robbery with a Dangerous Weapon and Discharging a Weapon into an Occupied Property.
