CHARLOTTE, N.C. (AP) β Defensive end Jared Allen is practicing for the first time with the Carolina Panthers, while linebacker Luke Kuechly remains out with a concussion.
Kuechly, who has missed the last two games after being placed in the NFL concussion protocol, was a no-show at practice on Wednesday. Coach Ron Rivera had expressed optimism on Monday that Kuechly might return to practice this week.
Running back Jonathan Stewart, wide receiver Philly Brown, fullback Mike Tolbert and defensive tackle Dwan Edwards also were not in pads at practice.
Allen was acquired from Chicago in a trade on Monday and is expected to start Sunday at Tampa Bay after Charles Johnson placed on eight-week injured reserve.
The Panthers (3-0) also announced they’ve cut veteran defensive tackle Colin Colin and signed Ryan Delaire from the Washington Redskins practice squad.
