Wife of Fallen SC Officer Speaks Out

CHARLOTTE, NC — The wife of the South Carolina police officer who was shot and killed Wednesday while on duty at a mall near Columbia is speaking out.

Kassy Alia talked to our sister station, WOLO, about her husband Greg Alia.  Kassy says she hopes her husband will be a face for all the positive things service men and women do to protect their community.

“I am so lucky that I had 7 years of wonderful, and I can continue to have that,” said Alia.  “I am surrounded with love, support, the community coming together.  Others are connected with that love, and that’s what life should be.”

Officer Alia also leaves behind a six-month-old son.  There are two GoFundMe accounts set up for officer Alia’s family.  So far, around $150,000 have been raised.
