
LANCASTER, S.C.– The Lancaster County Sheriff’s Office has charged a 16-year-old with murder after a man was shot and killed Saturday night.
Deputies were called to the 2100 block of Thomasville Street around 8:15 p.m. Saturday for a report of shots fired and a man lying in a ditch.
When they arrived they found Jeffery Dale Barrett, 42, lying on the side of the street with apparent gunshot wounds to his chest and lower leg.
Barrett was transported to Springs Memorial Hospital, where he was pronounced deceased.
Crime scene investigators recovered evidence from the scene and canvassed the areas for witnesses. They took 16-year-old Derrick Leron Stalk into custody and charged him as an adult with murder.
