16-year-old charged in Lancaster Murder

LANCASTER, S.C.– The Lancaster County Sheriff’s Office has charged a 16-year-old with murder after a man was shot and killed Saturday night. Β 

Deputies were called to the 2100 block of Thomasville Street around 8:15 p.m. Saturday for a report of shots fired and a man lying in a ditch. Β 

When they arrived they found Jeffery Dale Barrett, 42, lying on the side of the street with apparent gunshot wounds to his chest and lower leg. Β 

Barrett was transported to Springs Memorial Hospital, where he was pronounced deceased. Β Β 

Crime scene investigators recovered evidence from the scene and canvassed the areas for witnesses. They took 16-year-old Derrick Leron Stalk into custody and charged him as an adult with murder. Β
