Police Need Help Identifying Man Believed To Have Been Involved In A Gastonia Shooting

GASTONIA, NC — Police need your help identifying the man caught on surveillance in connection to a shooting on September 20th.

Police say Robert Payne, Jr. of Gastonia was sitting in his truck around 10:50pm on the night of September 20th when he was shot in the face. The shooting happened at the Kangaroo Express on 2434 South New Hope Road. Payne did survive the shooting, but police have been unable to locate a suspect.

Now, the man caught on surveillance video is believed to have been involved in that shooting. He is a white male seen wearing tennis shoes, gray shorts, a blue and whit t-shirt, and white ball cap.

Anyone with information on this man’s identity is asked to call Crime Stoppers of Gaston County at 704-861-8000. Crime Stoppers will pay $1000 for information that helps solve the case.
