DENVER, NC– A Lincoln County deputy was reportedly injured after a police chase left three patrol cars damaged.
Deputies reportedly caught up with the chase on Highway 16, when the lead patrol car attempted to stop and turn around. Β This caused the two following patrol cars to crash into the rear of the vehicle causing a chain reaction that sent one officer to the hospital with a leg injury.
The chase later ended after the vehicle being chased, a van, crashed into construction equipment on a bridge over Lake Norman.
The two occupants reportedly jumped in the lake but were later taken into custody after they swam back to shore.
