
UPDATE: The second victim has been identified after two people were fatally shot at the 5900 block of the Plaza.
Police have identified the second victim in Thursday’s shooting as 23-year-old Demetrius Goode.
The investigation into the shooting is still ongoing, and we will bring you updates as they come in.
CHARLOTTE, N.C. — Two people have been fatally shot at the 5900 block of the Plaza.
North Tryon Division officers say they responded to an assault with a deadly weapon call on Thursday afternoon. Upon arrival, officers found two male subjects suffering from apparent gunshot wounds.
One of the subjects, 22-year-old Daquan Alston, was pronounced dead on the scene by Medic.
The second male subject was transported to Carolinas Medical Center where he was pronounced deceased a short time later. His name has not yet been released.

Officials tell us this is not a random act of violence and that the two male subjects were involved in an altercation that led to the shooting.
