Resurfacing Work Impacts Several Busy Intersections

CHARLOTTE, NC — Construction at several major intersections could impact your commute for the next few weeks. Crews will be out at those intersections this weekend.

“I’m just like, come on I need to be in my job in 10 minutes,” says Southpark resident Cady. “Can we like do this another day, that sounds good!”

It can drive you crazy. Stuck in traffic, while crews do road work.

The City of Charlotte is re-paving several roads, causing a slowdown for the morning and evening commute, as traffic chokes into one lane.

“It’s just been a pain trying to get in and out, and the traffic’s been a lot worse recently,” said Cady.

And expect more delays beginning Saturday. Fairview Road from Park Road to South Park Drive, and Sharon Lane from Providence Road to Sharon Road will be re-paved. In Cotswold, crews began lining roads Friday, and will be paving new ones Saturday.

“I think it beginning on the weekend, it’s not going to be as bad as it could be,” said Cotswold resident Mary Foster. “As long as people keep in mind and just try to avoid it, shouldn’t be that bad.”

Crews start repaving on South Sharon Amity Road from Providence to Randolph Road Saturday, along with North Sharon Amity Road from Montague Street to Monroe road.

Drivers can expect another week of delays in all these areas. Work will continue Saturday and Sunday from 7am to 9pm, weekdays from 9am to 4pm, and in the evening from 6pm to 9pm.

“It’s just going to make it a lot harder to get places,” said Cady. “The good news is I don’t have to drive tomorrow.”
